This past Saturday, the Galveston skate park was renamed to honor Johnny Romano who passed away last September.

Johnny was an avid skater who touched the hearts of all who came in contact with him, as well as people like me, who never got the chance to meet him.

The renaming ceremony was moving with the Galveston Park & Rec Director, the Mayor Pro Tem, Mike & Julie Romano and friends all sharing their memories of Johnny.

The Johnny Kicks Cancer Foundation also presented a $5000 check to the Texas Children’s Cancer Center.

After the ceremony there were free munchies, a product toss and a skate jam.
