An epic session went down Tuesday night at Southside Skatepark and I was there to shoot it. The Cockfight Skateboard guys were out in full force and shredding the bowl as usual. With newly added Federal Stone pool coping, the guys have been having a field day with their new toy.
Check out the pics from this epic session.

The Jamail Skatepark was the place to be on Saturday night! It was another installment of the Skate & Rock Concert Series and it was a rockin’ good time.
Los Area 51 kicked things off with their surf-punk sound who were followed by the trippy noisemakers, A Thousand Cranes. The Dolly Rockers were in fine form ripping it up with their psychobilly sounds.
Lee and Max from Embassy Skateboards were out as well as Adam Wiggins from Cockfight Skateboards. Lance Childers showed up later in the evening to satisfy his vert fix.
It was a fun time and if you missed this one, you really should come out for the next one!

The final event of the 2010 Scion Regional Amateur Skateboard Tour will take place on Saturday, December 11th at the legendary Southside Skatepark in South Houston, TX. Admission is FREE for spectators and action starts at 1pm. Located at 510 Iowa Street, Southside Skatepark is a Houston institution and one of the top indoor facilities in the country.
The Scion RAT SkateTour was created by Bill Geiger in 2009 to give local amateur skaters an opportunity to come hang out with their friends and compete in a relaxed, fun setting. “We are excited to build on the success that we had in our inaugural season”, said Geiger. “The level of talent in this region is unbelievable and I am stoked that we can provide a platform for all the local riders to show off their skills!”
The 2010 Scion Regional Amateur Tour consists of six (6) events taking place in public skate parks across Texas and into Oklahoma. Top amateur skaters of all ages compete in both street and bowl competitions for over $15,000 in cash/prizes. The events also feature interactive vendor displays, skate related art displays and live music from DJ XBoyRD.

I love to shoot this event. The athleticism of these skaters is an amazing thing to photograph.
With World Cup Skateboarding involved, a whole new level of skateboarding is brought to Houston. Pro’s like Bucky Lasek, Kevin Kowalski, Sky Siljeg, Bryan Pennington, Sergie Ventura, Lance Mountain, Lester Kasai, Ken Fillion, Chris Gentry, Lizzie Armanto, Cara-Beth Burnside, Mimi Knoop and many more come to town for this event.
But there’s more to it than just a skate contest. The event is also a fundraiser for Johnny Kicks Cancer a non-profit group that is dedicated to the memory of local Galveston skater, Johnny Romano as well as their goal of eliminating childhood cancers, particularly the one that took Johnny’s life, childhood leukemia. The whole day is dedicated to skateboarding and remembrance.
For a list of all the winners, check out the results on World Cup Skateboarding.
Below are most of my shots from this year’s event.
